Programs

This is a group for parents and their children to explore playing music together.

We will learn about chords, notes, and how to play your favorite tunes together, sing and accompany each other.

Any type of family unit is welcome to participate - Please register with at least one child and one adult. If you have other instruments that you and/or your children enjoy playing, you are encouraged to bring them along (percussion instruments of various types or the like are all welcome)

If you do not have a ukulele please do not worry – Ukuleles will be provided for the first session at no additional cost, along with instructions of where and how to rent/purchase your own.
*If registering more than one child, please also register an additional adult.

Meet your instructor

Arkady has lived in Victoria since 2015. He studied guitar performance at the University of Alaska and music history at the University of Victoria. His favorite Genres include folk, jazz, bluegrass and fingerstyle. He has been teaching in Canada and abroad for over 20 years. Arkady performs as a bassist with Victoria based East European folk band Bucan Bucan and the Horsetail Bandits Trio. Since 2015, Arkady has also performed on bass, guitar and uke-bass with various jazz bands in the Anchorage (AK) area, gypsy jazz group Swing49 and the Chad Meyer Trio. Through his music teaching business, Sunflower Music School, (http://www.sunflowermusicschool.ca) Arkady offers private and small group instruction in ukulele, guitar and bass to learners of all ages and all levels. Arkady strives to create a supportive, fun environment for learning which is tailored to students’ needs, knowledge and interests.
